Each product record contains information that defines your offering. Here's what each field means and how it's used.

Basic Information

Product Types Explained

Goods

Products classified as Goods are physical items:

  • Can be stocked and inventoried
  • May have associated article numbers
  • Examples: replacement parts, materials, equipment

Services

Products classified as Services are work you perform:

  • Typically measured in time units
  • May have hourly or daily rates
  • Examples: installation, repair, consultation

When to Use Article Numbers

  • You have existing inventory systems
  • Products come from suppliers with codes
  • You need to track specific parts
  • International shipping requires HS codes

Notes Field

The notes field stores internal information:

  • Supplier contact details
  • Storage requirements
  • Handling instructions
  • Purchase information

Note: Notes are for internal use and don't appear on customer documents.

Viewing Product Details

From the Product List

  1. Click on a product row
  2. The detail page opens
  3. Information is organized in cards:
    • Product Information
    • Article Details (if article number exists)
    • Notes (if present)

Product Information Card

Shows:

  • Product name
  • Type badge (Goods or Service)
  • Unit of measurement
  • Description

Article Details Card

Appears when article information is present:

  • Article number
  • Article number type

Related Actions

From a product detail page, you can:

  • Edit - Update product information
  • Delete - Remove the product

Products in Offers and Orders

When you add a product to an offer or order:

  • Product name and unit are copied
  • You specify the quantity
  • Pricing is set per line item
  • Original product remains unchanged

This means:

  • Changes to a product don't affect existing offers/orders
  • Each offer/order has its own pricing
  • Products serve as templates for line items
